Audience
Readings: Elementary aged children at schools, libraries, and other locations.
Lectures: All ages.
We prefer to schedule readings for groups smaller than 30, but this number is flexible.
Program
Our authors and illustrators can speak to your group on a variety of subjects, including reading from the book, creating unique characters (either written and illustrated), how to write a story, and what makes a book good. There are additional topics available for each book based on its subject matter. If you already have a topic in mind that is not listed, please contact us. We can work with your groups to create a unique program for your event.
Fee
We ask for an honorarium to support our author visit program. With prior arrangements, in some cases the cost to the school can be offset with book sales (see below).
For one author or illustrator:
$200 for half-day local and regional visits within 150 miles of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
$300 for half day visits within Oklahoma farther over 150 miles from Okmulgee.
Full day visits and out-of-state visits over 150 miles are negotiable.
For more than one author and/or illustrator:
$350 for half-day local and regional visits within 150 miles of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
$500 for half day visits within Oklahoma farther over 150 miles from Okmulgee.
Full day visits and out-of-state visits over 150 miles are negotiable.
Program Schedule
For a half-school-day visit, our authors and illustrators can present to two or three groups of students; for a full-day visit they can visit with up to five groups. Details of the program schedule is the responsibility of the school, but we are able to work with your organizer to help you create the most effective schedule.
Book sales
About six weeks prior to the visit, we will supply order forms for distribution to students; please return all prepaid orders no later than three weeks in advance of the visit. Although purchase of books by students is always optional, if the total number of books ordered meets or exceeds a set minimum, your school's honorarium payment will be reduced. If a school is very interested in a visit, but does not feel able to pay an honorarium or meet the book minimum, please contact us to discuss options.
